Regina M. Sudia, age 86, obtained her angel wings on January 16, 2018.
Born in Latrobe, Pa., she graduated from Latrobe High School. Regina lived in the Akron area most of her life, and retired from The University of Akron Law Library. She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Regina enjoyed cooking and baking, and never saw a recipe she couldn’t improve.
Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and a sister, she is survived by her husband of 62-1/2 years, Ed; three daughters and a son; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
Regina’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Smith, Kate and Jane for their wonderful care over the years. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff in the ICU at Summa Akron City Hospital, Father Theoklitos-Victor for his visit and prayers, and The V. Rev. Father John Mason for his support to our family.
Family and friends will be received Friday, from 12 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312, where a Parastas Service will begin at 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 S. Cleveland Avenue, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with The V. Rev. Father Nicholas Wyslutsky and The V. Rev. Father Emil Hutnyan presiding. Visitation at the church on Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
