Rebecca E. Jessie

On July 5, 2024, Rebecca Elizabeth (Sanders) Jessie, 72, raised in Akron, OH, died in North Olmsted, OH after being overtaken in a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Her husband of over 50 years, Don, was at her side holding her hand and sharing her burden as she peacefully succumbed to her illness. 

Becky graduated from Ellet High School and Gerber Beauty School, working for many years as a cosmetologist and recently retiring after 20 years with Pioneer Manufacturing. Becky was passionate about raising flowers, decorating for the holidays (ALL holidays), the outdoors, and since her youth, enjoyed camping and hiking with her often rowdy siblings and later, her own children and husband. She also exhibited, if you visited her home, a more than casual fondness for hummingbirds and Winnie the Pooh. The focus of Becky’s life was her family. 

Preceding her in death were her parents, Wayne E. and Ruth Sanders, loving in-laws Fay and Pete Jessie, sister-in-law Sherry Sanders and brother-in-law Leo McKean. Surviving her are husband, Don; son Don Jr. (Meredith) and daughter Holly Jessie; grandchildren Colby, Faith, and William Jessie; sisters Wendy McKean and Cindy (George) McQuiggan; brothers Wayne II (Linda) and Tom; and numerous and loved nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

Friends are invited to a visitation at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home on Canton Road on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 5-8 pm. Friends can also gather on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 2-3 pm with a service starting at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, Becky would have been greatly pleased for donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association.
