Raymond Eugene (Papa Gene) Lindsay, at the age of 88, was promoted on Saturday morning to his heavenly home where he was reunited with Margaret (Mimi) after 19 years of being apart.
He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II, and retired from the John L. Showalter Company in 1990. He was a wonderful dad and grandpa, not only to his immediate family but to hundreds of young ladies throughout the 40 years of managing the Cadet-Ettes. As former corps members began marching together again three years ago, he took great pride and satisfaction to have been able to reunite with so many of “his girls”.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Charles and George; a host of long-time friends, especially Danny Coulter, who had been a precious friend to him in the last few years of his life until God called him home. He is survived by daughter, Ramona Lindsay Sisler; granddaughters, Melissa “Sissy” (Mike) Winkelman, Michal “Bullet” (Josh) Reed; and “Pipsqueak”, his great-grandson, Weston Reed. He is also survived by brothers, Donald and Jackie; and good friend, Steve Vargo. He touched many lives as he lived out his purpose for which God had called him to while here. Special thanks to Jill Buchanan and the staff at Sapphire for the love and care they provided to him. To Lee Fogarty, Laurie Minnick, Laura DeForest and Margie Wood, Ron and Rose Haynes, Jacki Cyr, the Cole family, the Care Ministry of The Chapel, and Linda Aikey: thank you for the way you shared your love with him this past year.
