Ray Cassel Young

Ray Cassel Young, 70, of Akron passed into eternal rest peacefully with his family by his side September 9, 2016. 

Ray was born in Akron to parents, Martin and Geraldine Young and retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was always ready to help anyone or just share a laugh. Ray’s passion was family and friends. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Geraldine Young; and son, Douglas Young. Ray is survived by his forever loving wife of 54 years, Joanie; daughter Patti (John) Stubbs; grandchildren, Joe (Stephanie) Stubbs, Keith Stubbs, Megan Young and Taylor Young; sisters, Ginger (Bill) Gallegly and Jane (Russ) Stalnaker; sister-in-law, Judy (Mark) James; step father-in-law, Clifford Spiker; and many nieces and nephews. 

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
