Ralph “Ruf” Pierce, age 78, passed away surrounded by his family January 27, 2022.
He was born May 25, 1943 in Mogadore to the late Lawrence and Frances Pierce. Ruf worked as a truck driver for Acme for 28 years and was a coach for Mogadore sports for 30 years. He enjoyed working on cars, boating, waterskiing, and spending time with his family.
Ruf was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie, Willie, and Richard Pierce, as well as his daughter, Edna Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edna (Murphy) Pierce; children, Ralph Jr. (Jess), Richard (Brenda), Ronald (Rachel), and Randy (Misty); grandchildren, Alicia (Dwayne), Brittani (Bob), CJ, Justine (Jeff), Austin (Miah), Lexie (Tommy), Meghan (Jared), Sarah (Eric), Preston, Davey, Tony, and Mikey; great-grandchildren, Addison, Abel, and Maverick; sisters, Grace (Bud), Theresa, Jane (Frank), Mary, Diane (Sereno), Sandy, and Bev; as well as close friends, John Fuller, R.L. Davis, Paul Murphy, Norm Lingle, and Ernie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mogadore Schools Alumni Foundation.
Friends and family will be received Monday, January 31st from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Livestreaming of the funeral service will be available on the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home Facebook page. The stream will begin at 6:50 p.m.
