Ralph G. "Mort" Mortimer

Ralph G. “Mort” Mortimer, age 101, passed away April 9, 2015 after a brief illness.

He was born in Akron on March 4, 1914, and spent his early life in Uniontown. Mort lived in North Canton for many years, where he was a longtime member of Zion United Church of Christ. He owned and operated North Canton school busses along with various other occupations. Mort was delighted when he ran into his former school bus passengers and could always recall their names and bus stops.

Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; and brother, Paul, he is survived by sons, Charles (Cheryl) and Gale (Penny); grandchildren, Guy, Dana and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Aurora, Cadence, Andrea, Amber and Hailey; and special friends, Mark and Kathy. Ralph’s family would like to thank the staff at Midway Manor for their care and kindness.

Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Rev. Richard Beck officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will follow at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels of North Canton, 7707 Market Ave North, North Canton OH 44721.
