Peter Edwin Vitello, age 85, passed away suddenly on January 10, 2017.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Peter and Sara (Geese) Vitello, he attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from South High School in Akron in 1950. Peter served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserve for 31 years. He was a member of the Sampson Air Force Base Veterans Association. Mr. Vitello retired from Loral Corporation in 1987 and was also the owner of Greensburg Electronics. He enjoyed meeting with his former school mates each Thursday morning at the Farmer Boy Restaurant, walking the mall for exercise, and researching his entire family genealogy.
Peter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores “Dee” (Wood); children, Cheryl Vitello, Susan Huxtable, Caressa (Ronald) Copen and Tina (Kenneth) Ruble; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
