Peter Joseph Mattucci On May 1, 2015, Pete passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer while being cared for by his family in his home in Jensen Beach, Florida. Pete was 60 years old.
He was born in Akron, Ohio on April 6, 1955 where he lived for 55 years until he retired and relocated to Florida. Pete was a 1973 graduate of Central-Hower High School and also served his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from the Akron Fire Department with 31 years of service. Pete enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football team, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
Preceded in death by his mother, Tommie Mattucci; and father, Angelo Mattucci. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; son, Joseph; daughter, Chandra (Dennis) O’Brien; grandchildren, Austin, Zachary and Kellen; brothers, Raymond (Susan) Mattucci, Bart (Vicki) Mattucci, and Louis Mattucci; sisters, Karen (Gilberto) Acevedo, Andrea (Jeffrey) Costello, and Tina Mattucci (James Oates).
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312 where Last Alarm services will be held at 5 p.m. Graveside services and burial Monday, 2 p.m., at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Rev. Bob Denton will be officiating both services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Peter J. Mattucci to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
