Paul D. Gatewood

Dr. Paul D. Gatewood, age 72, passed away on August 9, 2016. 

Born in Wheeling, W.Va., he lived in Akron, Ohio and Naples, Fla., and was currently living in Canfield, Ohio. Dr. Gatewood graduated from Moundsville High School, Marietta College and West Virginia University School of Medicine. He had private practices in Akron and Oberlin, Ohio and was also a locum tenens in multiple communities in Ohio. Dr. Gatewood also acted as a medical legal expert and was a member of the Ohio State Medical Association, Summit County Medical Society, and American Medical Association, the American College of OB/GYN, the American Fertility Society, and AOA Medical Honorary. He collected art, was an avid fan of local sports teams, and enjoyed travel and sports cars. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Gatewood; daughter, Elizabeth Ann; brother, Frank; and sister, Ruth Slivka, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara; son, Joe; brother, Larry; and many nieces and nephews. 

Friends and family will be received Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Saturday, 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Marietta College or the charity of your choice.
