P. David Shanafelt

P. David Shanafelt, age 90, went home to be with the lord on May 8, 2022. Born in Akron, Ohio, David graduated from Mogadore High School and then from Miami University. He served his military service in the Navy. David was employed and retired from First National Bank of Akron with 37 years of service. He was a member of AAA Board, Summa Board, Mogadore Lions, Field Local School Board, and Congress Lake Country Club. David enjoyed golf, classical music, and spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul W. and Betty Shanafelt, and his beloved wife of 58 years, Marcia. David is survived by son, Steve (Teresa) Shanafelt; daughters, Debbie Schutt, and Diana Shanafelt; grandchildren, Becky (Jeremy) Heldman, Denise (Steve Ingersol) Shanafelt, Kimberly (Matt) Jones, and Kelsey (Ian Getz) Schutt; great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Trey Shanafelt, and Blake and Brooks Heldman; brother, John (Joan) Shanafelt; and sister, Carol (Ed) Lysen. Friends and family will be received Friday, May 13th from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, (Ellet), Ohio 44312. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Nevergall officiating.
