Orva M. Combs

Orva Marie (Simmons) Combs, 93, of Hartville, Ohio entered Heaven’s gates on December 25, 2020. She was born in Linden, West Virginia on August 19, 1927, the daughter of Gerald B. and Orva Marie (Young) Simmons. A loving mother and homemaker, Orva was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved scrapbooking including making cards and “quote” books in her own handwriting and giving them as gifts. She also was a talented seamstress and quilt maker. In addition to her parents, Orva was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Donald Brooks Combs, and brother, Gerald Brenton (G.B.) Simmons. Orva is survived by her six children, Rita Messner and husband, Terry, Donald Alan Combs, Marsha Miller and husband, Howard, Rick Combs and wife, Terri, Randy Combs, and Robin Whitmyer. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer Penczarski, Jill Liechty, Ray Miller, Karen Miller, Chris Combs, Jenni Gardiner, Rob Whitmyer and Rusty Whitmyer; and seven great-grandchildren, Grace, Isabelle and Emme Liechty, Jack and Josephine Miller, and Callie and Camryn Gardiner. A special thanks to all the staff at the HomeStead Assisted Living and Memory Care in Hartville for their care and support for the past two years that Orva was a resident there. Also, a thank you to Absolute Hospice for their care during her final days. Private funeral service will be held. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, North Canton, Ohio.
