Oliver Edman, age 80, passed away into eternal life peacefully at his home in Uniontown, Ohio on June 2, 2018. He was a man of sincere faith in Jesus Christ. Oliver was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His life was devoted to his family and his unconditional love, support and advice will be dearly missed.
Ollie was born and lived his entire life in the Akron area. He was a Master Mechanic who could repair just about everything. Ollie worked for P.I.E. Trucking and maintained the buses of Stow and Springfield Township Schools. He supported the Springfield Township Youth Organizations as a football and baseball equipment manager, baseball coach, and baseball league president. Ollie also taught Sunday School and served as a leader for the Christian Boy’s Brigade.
Preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Dempsie; and siblings, Betty, Emma, Berdena, Barbara and Don. Ollie is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Rose; sons, Thomas (Elizabeth), Terry (Bev) and Ted; grandchildren, Emily (Andy) Forrest, Justin, Bobby and Brittany Edman; great grandchildren, Madison, Kayleigh, Carlton, Kaylie and Curtis; sisters, Edith Greathouse, Peggy McKenna, Sandy (Bob) Antrobius and Susan (Don) Harper; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral Service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider an extra donation to your church or favorite charity.
