Naomi Margaret Harter Moore

March 25, 1912 — June 6, 2014

Naomi Margaret Harter Moore passed on to her Heavenly Home and Life Triumphant on June 6, 2014 at the age of 102.

On March 25, 1912, she was born to John and Mary Harter in Cairo, Ohio. She and her husband, George Moore, whom she married in 1932, raised their two sons on a small truck farm in Uniontown, Ohio. She moved three times, but for close to 80 years lived on the same street in that town. Naomi enjoyed and excelled at all kinds of needlework including quilting, crocheting and knitting and other homemaking skills such as cooking, sewing, cleaning, gardening and canning. She was an active member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church in North Canton where she was the oldest member and was baptized into the family of God 101 years ago, on March 16, 1913.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, George; sons, Dean and Glenn Moore; daughter-in-law, Marlene Moore; sisters, Leto Lesh, Hazel Wagner, Laura Werstler, and Blanche Travis; and brother, Clarence Harter. Naomi was a blessing to many. We cherish the memories we have of her amazing mind, her faith, wisdom and indomitable spirit. She leaves a legacy of love to those surviving her: daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Janice Moore Dwenger and Tom Dwenger; grandsons, Glenn “Chip” (Rose) Moore, Gregory (Kelly) Moore, Douglas (Beverly) Moore, and Michael (Ann) Moore; granddaughters, Sandra (Tom) Swann and Diane (Dave) Edwards; great-granddaughters, Lauren, Brittany, Sydney, Mackenzie, Victoria, Veronica, and Sarah Moore; great-grandsons, Joshua Edwards and Andrew Swann; step-granddaughter, Kelly McHugh (fiancé, Tim Curtin); step-grandson, Kevin (Jennie) Dwenger; step-great-granddaughter, Lauren McHugh; and step-great-grandsons, Tad Moskwa, Trey McHugh, and Jacob Dwenger.

Over the course of her life, Naomi had many families. Her neighbors, Pat and Roger Beers and children Corrine and Paul became a loving “adopted” family to Grandma Peg, showering her with gifts and cards for every holiday. Relatives of her in-laws became her extended family who joined in celebrating her birthday milestones. Her St. Jacob’s Family was consistently faithful with cards, visits and the love they bestowed. Likewise, the bond between the caregivers and Naomi that was formed during the three and a half years she lived at St. Luke Lutheran Home was reassuring and special. Naomi’s presence among all will be missed. Her immediate family rejoices in these wonderful friendships that sustained Naomi over her life.

A service of thanksgiving and joy for Naomi’s life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, 1460 State Street NE, North Canton, Ohio 44721-1046, with The Rev.
