Nancy Lou Barton

Nancy Lou Barton, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 27, 2017. Nancy was a 1956 graduate of Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing and retired from Akron City Hospital after 40 years of service. The doctors referred to her as “the oldest living ICU nurse”. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carlton “Joe”, who says that he is married to the sweetest person he ever knew. Nancy was the mother of five: Becky (Dale), Fred (Paula), Melissa (Andy), Ken (Diane) and Joe (Carla); grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of seven. Per Nancy’s wishes, no services will be held.
