Miriam F. Chipps "Mims"

Miriam F. Chipps “Mims”, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2017. Born in West Virginia, she lived in the Akron area most of her life. Miriam was employed as a switchboard operator while in West Virginia, and went on to become a nurse’s aide at Edwin Shaw Hospital in Akron. She was a member of Lakemore United Methodist Church. Miriam enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Preceded in death by her husband, Bill; brothers, Jim, David and Bill; and sister, Barbara, she is survived by her son, Jim (LuAnn); daughter, Brenda Strickland; grandchildren, Keith (Tammy) Strickland, Lisa (Aaron) Marshall, Ryan (Katherine) Chipps and Brandi (Jason) Merriss; great-grandchildren, Sidney, Kassidy, Ashton, Alexis and Kinsley; and brother, Donald Miller. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Ken Price officiating. Additional visitation at the church prior to the service Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
