Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2015.
She was born on August 11, 1922 in Hamlin, West Virginia to her parents, the late Arnold and Freda Bias. She lived the past sixty years in Springfield Township. Mildred graduated from Garfield High School and The University of Akron with a degree in Education. She then taught in the Akron Public Schools (Thomastown, Betty Jane and Voris) until retirement in 1986.
Upon retirement, she was designated as Emeritus Member of the Professional Staff of the Akron Public Schools. Mildred was a longtime member of The Chapel. She was also active in Order of the Eastern Star and held many offices including Worthy Matron of Ellestar Chapter #565. Mildred enjoyed traveling throughout all parts of the United States, Europe and the Middle East, which included being with her family wherever they were in the world.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Harry; and sister, Marjorie Wagner. She is survived by sister, Elaine Tompkins; brother, Arnold (Donna) Bias; children, Harry (Linda) and David (Elaine); grandchildren, Eric (Michaela), Andrew, Daniel, Bethany and Emily; great-grandchild, Micah; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at The Chapel–Green Campus, 1800 Raber Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Bucy officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Chapel-Green Campus or a charity of your choice.
