Micki Bates (Cruise)

Micki Bates (Cruise), 54, passed away May 4, 2013.

She was born in Akron on April 26, 1959, the daughter of Phil and Concetta (Piperni) Bates. Micki retired from the U.S. Postal Service, had previously worked for Hincor and Roberts Express and was a member of Maranatha Bible Church for many years. She had many hobbies including reading, crocheting, quilting and cooking, and liked to spend her free time enjoying fishing, camping, walking the parks, bonfires, and being on or near the water. Micki loved animals, and also enjoyed participating in Bible Study, and playing pool and corn hole.

Preceded in death by her mother, Concetta Bates (nee Piperni), she is survived by sons, James Bates and Chad Stuart; grandchildren, Nicole, Kayla, Miranda, Dominic, Caulen, and Jayden; father, Phil Bates; sister, Francine (nee Bates) (Eric) Paull; brother, Mike (Rosa) Bates; aunts, Louisa Macro, Peggy Bates and Cathy Piperni; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and very special friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday 7:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Brenda Young officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 p.m. until service time. Cremation will follow with private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
