Michael J. Smith

Michael J. Smith, age 58, passed away April 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Akron and lived in Suffield all his life. Mike was a very well respected businessman who dedicated his life to the family business, H. M. Miller Construction Company. He was a graduate of Archbishop Hoban and the University of Akron. Mike was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather. He enjoyed preparing big breakfasts for his kids and grandbabies, watching his Buckeyes on Saturdays and enjoying a nice cold beer in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. C. Smith. Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Deborah; daughter, Jodi (Donald) Pavlik; sons, Michael (Rachel) Smith, Neil (Kim) Murdock, and Brian Smith (Stacey); grandchildren, Kirstin, Alexandria, Avery, Jayce, Molly and Montgomery; mother, Bernadette; brothers, Steve (Marijane), Dave (Sandy), Tom (Lanna), Pat (Sharon), John (Julie); many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Father Thomas Acker, S. J. celebrating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. PROCESSION WILL BEGIN AT FUNERAL HOME. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue, Mogadore, Ohio 44260.
