Merl V. Beck

Merl V Beck, 91, of Akron, Ohio passed away January 29th. She was born in Martin County, Kentucky in 1934 to Walter and Dulcie Goble Boyd. She lived most of her life in the Akron area, graduating from Mogadore High School. After high school she worked for Cromwell Quality Tools prior to spending years as a stay at home mom. She later worked in the shipping department for Paul Sheeks & Associates and later Hudson Incentives. 

Merl was married for 42 years to her beloved husband John who passed away in 1995. Preceded also in death by her parents, brother, John Boyd, sisters, Loretta Beach, Walletta “Dottie” Falkenstein, and Geraldine Muth, son, John Daniel Beck, and grandson, Daniel Newman.

She is survived by brother James Boyd (Sue) and sister Doris Egnor (Larry) son Greg Beck (Judy Corrente), daughter Debbie Maloney (John), grandchildren, Kristen Newman, Megan Chvatal, Jordan Corrente Beck, Caroline Scherer, Corey Beck, Skylar Beck, and John Beck. Great Grandchildren, Elijah Newman, River Newman, Calum Chvatal, Fiona Scherer, Jude Alan, Theo Scherer, and Coralie Beck. She also leaves many dear nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, and extended family members. She will be missed by niece Stacy Muth whose weekly calls made her smile over the years and her “adopted” nieces Krystal Spiegle and Jess Blake.

Merl loved animals, especially her own pets over the years: Dogs King, Jocko, Kelly, Ming, Clifford, and Katie. Cats Kissy and Callie. She gave generously to the Summit County Humane Society and encouraged others to support animals 

Merl enjoyed helping others. She delivered Mobile Meals for 25 years to those in need in Akron neighborhoods. She was a lifetime member of Akron Baptist Temple and later attended The Chapel in Green.

At Merl’s request a private family ceremony will be held in her honor.
