Mary K. McCarty

Mary K. McCarty, 98, went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2025.

Born in Crabbottom, VA, she was a longtime resident of Akron. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, where she enjoyed working in the nursery. Mary was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was always willing to help others and had a great love for children. She unselfishly loved and provided skilled nursing care for family members and friends. She also enjoyed working outside and tending to her flowers.

Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Luke McCarty. She is survived by her children, Eugene McCarty, Bernie Joyce, and Barbie Meehan. 

Family and friends will be received Monday, January 27th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 28th at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
