Mary Lou Holmes

Mary Lou Holmes, 87 years, passed away peacefully at home November 27, 2012 surrounded by her grateful children and the love of her family. She was a wonderful homemaker, loved to garden, travel, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Lou was a member of Oak Hill United Presbyterian Church for over 56 years. Mom worked for JC Penney in the cosmetic department for many years, and also volunteered at City Hospital. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Russell T., who was the love of her life for 64 years; and is survived by children, Tom of Mogadore, Jerry (Eva) of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Becky (Mickey) Ciriello of Portage Lakes; grandchildren, Heather (Sean) Flandermeyer, Betsy (Jimmy) Warren and Daniel (Kari) Holmes; and great-grandchildren, Jaden, Seth, Kalel, Ryder, Owen and Sylvie. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, 2406 Ardwell Ave., Akron, Ohio 44312 from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, where a memorial service will follow in the church at 11:15 a.m., Pastor Brian Nutt officiating. Cremation and private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity.
