Mary “Edith” Blankenship, 97, went home to be with the Lord November 23, 2014, after a brief illness. Born in Big Rock, Virginia, Edith lived most of her life in Tallmadge, Ohio. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Tallmadge.
Preceded in death by her parents, Conley and Georgia Fleming; one sister; five brothers; husband, Roy James in 1986; daughter, Helen Ruth Moles in 2000; sons, James Darrell in 2006, and Lowell E. in 2014; and two grandchildren. She is survived by daughters-in-law, Ruth and Nancy Blankenship; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, Northeast Region, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
