Mary Imogene Brown, age 93, passed away following a short illness on December 15, 2015.
Born in Harford County, Maryland on August 12, 1922, Mrs. Brown lived in Lakemore all of her life and was briefly employed at Goodyear Aircraft during World War II. She was most happy the rest of her life as a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. A person of deep faith and kindness, she was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, William; parents, Carl and Mary (Weaver) Cheek; brother, Byron Cheek; and sister, Doris Poor, she is survived by sons, Thomas (friend, Pam) and Richard (Becky); grandchildren, Jeff, Scott (Bridgette), and Jennifer (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Destiny, Devin, Gretta, Audrey and Mariah; and sister-in-law, Virginia Cheek.
Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron/Ellet, Ohio 44312; and at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday.
