Mary J. Barrett

Mary J. Barrett (nee Pratt, Bennett), age 96, went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2021. Born in Kitzmiller, Maryland, Mary lived in Akron most of her life. She was a member of St. Matthew and was a supervisor for the “Rosie the Riveters” during World War II. Mary was employed by the Akron Board of Education as a Lunch Monitor for many years. Mary is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Bennett and Clyde Barrett; and grandson, Robert G. Fink. She is survived by son, Steven (Dorothy) Bennett; and daughter, Patricia Fink, both of Akron; grandchildren, Shantel Watson of Broadview Heights, and Harriet Fink of Akron; great – grandchildren, Alexis, Auston, Tyler, and Trenton Fink, Carolann Brinkhoff, and Paige Watson; and great – great granddaughter, Ava Marple. Friends and family will be received to honor Mary’s life on Friday, June 25, 2021 starting at 2 pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home located at 547 Canton Rd. (Rte. 91) Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will begin at 3 pm with Rev. Michael Williamson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in care of Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home.
