Martha Jane Eggert, born March 9, 1931, joined her Heavenly Father on January 14, 2015 after a brief illness.

Born in Akron, she was a lifetime area resident. Martha retired from Chas. E. Slusser Insurance Company after 30 years. She was a lifelong member of High Street Christian Church, and most recently a member of Firestone Park Christian Church. Martha loved flowers, birds, gardening, animals, crafts and sewing. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Martha is now reunited with her husband of 65 years, Dean L. Eggert; granddaughter, Tiffany Dean Watson; parents, Franklin and Alice Nicholson; brother, Raymond Nicholson; and sister, Dorothy Jones. She is survived by son, Terry Lee Eggert and wife, Heidi; daughter, Janic Lynn Watson and husband, Bob; granddaughter, Taelor Leigh Watson; grandsons, Christopher Chapman and wife, Allison, and Mark Chapman of Georgia; sisters, Elizabeth Hanna, Joan Nervo and Judy Csonka; sister-in-law, Phyllis "Josephine" Eggert; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and her beloved cat, Muffin.

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor Rich Ferris officiating. Entombment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, the HUmane Society of Greater Akron, or a charity of your choice.
