Marlene Joy Black went home to the Lord on April 28, 2023. She graduated from Uniontown school, class of 1955. Marlene was married to John Russel Black in 1955, and spent 37 years loving and standing by her husband and raising three children. She worked many different jobs over the years including cashier at Smith's IGA, Ohio Bell phone operator, Lake School bus driver, Archway Cookies distributor and her craft store Russlenes, retired from Longaberger Basket Company at the age of 62.
Marlene loved Jesus, and as a child, attended the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church. Later she was baptized by her brother-in-law, the Reverand Jim Black, and played piano and also taught sunday school at the Archwood Brethren Church. Later, she attended Springfield Baptist Church for over ten years. She loved her family and living on a farm, wildlife and sitting by the water reading. She enjoyed her many pets over the years. She occupied her time with a true love of classical music and hymns. Her favorite hymn was "In the Garden". Marlene never liked people fussing over her and would have rather served than to be served.
