Mark E. Lane, 75, passed away unexpectedly October 7, 2022. Born in Akron, OH he was a lifelong resident. Mark graduated from Buchtel High School in 1966. He served in the US Navy on the USS Stickell and became a Shellback on his 21st birthday. He worked as a stationary engineer and retired from Goodyear and Meggitt.
He was a member of many clubs and organizations throughout his life and loved donating his time to help others. Donating blood to the Red Cross has been his highest priority, having achieved over 33 gallons.
Interests included old cars, Studebaker’s, and his Harley. He enjoyed his annual trips to Myrtle Beach with the kids and his many hikes in the metro parks.
Preceded in death by his mother, Arlene (Mac) McDougall and father, Raymond Lane. Survived by wife, Carol of 39 years; sons, Chris (Melanie), Jeff (Heather), Patrick; and favorite daughter, Shannon (Mike); grandchildren, Aiden, Avery, Maddie, Olivia, Sophia, Dylan, Cecilia, Adalynn, and Liam; siblings, twin sister Martha (Ben), Jimmy (Pat), Gail (Rick), Bruce (Rene); along with many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, October 20th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hopkins Lawver UNIONTOWN Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Avenue), Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 21st at 10 a.m. at Nativity of The Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Burial will follow at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville.
