Marjorie A. Speicher

Marjorie (Marge) Ann Speicher (nee Pulschen) was born in 1927 in Port Clinton, Ohio and passed away on Sept. 6, 2022 from natural causes. She attended and graduated from Bowling Green State University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and met her future husband, Sanford “Red” Speicher. The couple was married for 59 years until Red’s passing in 2010. 

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family. 

She had a 22-year teaching career at Central (later Central-Hower) High School in Akron where she was known as a dedicated teacher who taught Business Education. She was fondly remembered by many of her former students, who often stopped her in public to reminisce about past school memories. 

She retired in the early 1980’s and she and her husband spent many pleasant, sunny winters in Sebring, Florida. They also took several trips to Europe during their retirements and were blessed to visit many interesting places during those trips. 

She was a member of Oak Hill Presbyterian church where she attended early service on Sundays. She was also an avid bridge player usually playing 3 days per week at the Ellet and Springfield senior centers, where she developed wonderful friendships with her card playing partners.  

Marge is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Mike) O’Neill of Powell, Ohio; son David (Christine) Speicher, of Zug, Switzerland; grandchildren, Michael O’Neill and Philip, Michael and Jessica Speicher. 

Very special thanks go to caregiver Jennifer Martin for the wonderful care she provided to Marge over the last 5 years of Marge’s life. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church in Akron (Ellet) on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11:00 followed by a reception lunch also at Oak Hill. The family requests that all donations go to Oak Hill Church.
