Marie Sofran

Marie “Nan” Sofran, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2013.

Born in Akron, Nan graduated from South High School, and was employed with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for over 20 years. She was a member of Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church and Wingfoot Girls. Nan was a wonderful cook, baker and seamstress. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all of them.

Preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Rhett Darago; she is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Gene; daughters, Nanette (Don) Selby, Kathleen (Bill) Carper, Barb (Roger) Marcinkoski and Lisa (Phil) Huffman; sons, Walter Darago and Gene (Peggy) Sofran; grandchildren, Jacob, Kristina, Billy, Desiree, Tony, Kimberly, Jeffrey, Jena, Sean, Michael, Mark, Stephanie, Adam, Kelly, Kerri and Zachary; many great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Bury.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m., at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, with Father David Halaiko presiding. Procession will form at the funeral home. Private burial will take place. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685. Memorials may be made to the church.
