Marie A. Kiehl
On August 18, 2018 Marie A. Kiehl, age 96, passed away after a long life to be with Our Lord. Born September 26, 1921 in Akron Ohio, to Anna and Frank Kawczk, Marie grew up in Akron, and attended South High School. Soon after graduating in 1940, she accepted a position in the office at American Hard Rubber Company, and later, during WWII, worked at the B. F. Goodrich Company.
While at the American Hard Rubber Company, she met her husband, John Kiehl, whom she married in 1942. Marie remained married to John until his death in 1969.
Marie was a stay at home mom, raising her four children until her husband passed, then re-entered the work force. During this time, Marie worked at various jobs, especially enjoying working as a secretary for the Seniors Workers Action Program, where she was employed for several years. Marie retired from the work force at age 72.
During Marie’s life she made many friends along the way, many who preceded her in death. The family cannot express enough thanks for those relatives who visited Marie during her illness, for their prayers and support.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, John; her father, Frank; her mother, Anna; her brother, Paul Kawczk; her sister, Eleanor (Jim) Chapman; her nephew, Steve Kawczk; three baby brothers; and her loving daughter, Joanne Girard, whom she dearly missed. She is survived by her three sons, David (Lydia) Kiehl, John Kiehl (friend, Patty), and Thomas Kiehl; sisters, Helen (Walter) Wuchich and Rosemary Nichols; son-in law, Louis Girard Jr.; grandson, Eric Kiehl; granddaughters, Laura (Ronald) Swain and Cathy (Ryan) Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Gracie Swain, and Ella and Clint Pendleton; as well as several nieces and nephews, all who loved her very much.
