Marian L. Landis (Haskins), age 85, went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2015, while surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Akron, she lived her entire life in the area. Marian was baptized as a young child and was an active member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ for over 50 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher for nursery and preschool children. She was also the church card secretary, and delighted in brightening someone’s day. Marian most recently attended Bridge Bible Church. She found pleasure in simple things, such as singing to a child, taking a car ride on a sunny day, and the colorful flowers in her garden.
Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Lauren H. Landis; and her sisters, Ruth and Martha. She is survived by children, Lorain (Ray), Larry (Linda), Garry (Danielle) and Becky (Joel); grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert), Mary Beth (Jason), Amy (Jon), Laura (Aaron), Julie (Amy), Garry (Miranda) and Danny; great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Luna, Jacob, Taylor, Vincent, Natalie and one on the way; brother, Jim Haskins; sister-in-law, Daisy Belle Parker; numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Family and friends are welcome to attend; the procession will originate at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312, Monday at 10:15 a.m.
