Margaret Lillian Orr Margaret passed away at Rockynol Retirement Center on August 16, 2015 at age 94.
Margaret was born in Kelowna, B.C., Canada on January 18, 1921. After World War II broke out, the family moved to Victoria, B.C. Margaret met Alex who was minister of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Victoria. They were married in 1949 and moved to the U.S.A. They located in Troy Grove, Illinois, where Alex ministered to the congregation while continuing studies in Chicago. Then they moved to Neosho, Missouri and eventually to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church in Akron, where Alex served as Associate Minister until his passing in 1981.
She was the last of the family of Andrew and Mary Gordon, including sisters, Bessie (Jim) Sutherland, Effie (Horace) Britton and Clement (Emily) Gordon; and niece, Marion (Roy) Schlinker. Margaret is survived by nieces, Betty Ann Holland and Sharon (Alan) Mace; and nephews, Gordon (Joan) Britton and Ron (Verna) Britton; other relatives and a host of friends. The family thanks the Rockynol staff for their help and care over the last few years, and a special thanks to the Swanks for their continuing care through the years.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, 2406 Ardwell Ave., Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Brian Nutt officiating. The family suggests memorials to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church.
