Margaret I. Burkett, 92, of Mogadore went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 26, 1923 in Manns Choice, Pa., where she was raised on a dairy farm. She was daughter of Calvin and Carrie (Holler) Hyde. She attended school in Bedford County, Pa. During the war years she worked at the Celanese plant in Cumberland, Maryland. On August 1, 1948 she married Robert (Gene) Burkett of Akron, Ohio and moved to the Akron area.
Preceded in death by parents and her brothers, Walter, Homer, Ross and Paul Hyde; and sisters, Edith Ellifritz and Thelma Casebeer. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Donna (Cutting) Burkett and granddaughter, Carrie Dulin. Margaret was a loving wife of over 67 years and extremely devoted and caring mother to three children. Her family always came first and foremost in her life. She is survived by daughters, Patsy Dulin and husband, Carl of Doylestown, Ohio; Cathy Warchal and husband, Rick of Powell, Ohio; and a son, John Burkett of Akron, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ben (Kristie) Dulin of Marshalville, Ohio, Dawn (Gary) Bishop of Uniontown, Ohio, Jessica (Ande) Jackson of Tallmadge, Ohio, Angela (Matt) Walder of Bellefonte, Pa., and Amy Warchal of Powell, Ohio; and eleven great-grandchildren, Audrey, Amelia, Makenzie, Olivia, Eli, Alaina, Grady, Cameron, Isaac, Noah, Ethan. Also survived by a brother, Ray Hyde of Manns Choice, Pa.
She enjoyed gardening, baking, craft projects, the Lawrence Welk program and mostly, spending time with family. She was a lifetime member of the Suffield United Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home – Ellet, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 10 a.m. to noon with funeral services immediately following.
