"Together Again" Macel L. Croston, age 86, went home to be with the Lord February 27, 2016 after a long illness.
Born in Philippi, West Virginia, to Alston and Alberta (Kennedy) Newman, Macel lived in Green, Ohio over 60 years. She was a loving homemaker for her family and will be dearly missed. Preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; granddaughter, Mendy; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Croston; she is survived by sons, Harvey D. of Zanesville and Samuel “Larry” (Joy) of Akron; daughters, Sue Mayle of Canton, Brenda Krauss of Green and Charlotte Newman of Green; grandchildren, April Currey, Joe Krauss, Ben Croston and Melissa Bomberger; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Bobby, Goldie, Tommy, Gary and Donald Newman; and sisters, Hattie Gibson, Naomi Mayle, Nancy Hovatter and Dolores Butler.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday (TODAY), from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Eastwood Church of the Brethren, 581 Darrow Road, Akron, Ohio 44305 with Rev. Terry Newman officiating. Friends and family will also be received one hour prior to the service Wednesday, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville.
