Lucille Feola, 95 years young, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2012. Her final days were spent with family and friends. Lucille's greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Those who were privileged to know her will be forever blessed. She was a very loving, generous, and fun-loving woman.
Lucille was a life-long resident of Akron. She was born n August 2, 1916 to Philip and Margaret Pappano and was one of nine siblings, who all preceded her in death: Tony (Catherine) Pappano, Lena 9Frank) Russo, Fred (Maxine) Pappano, Orland (Evelyn) Pappano, Albert (Annie) Pappano, Larry (Dorothy) Pappano, Albert Pappano, and Margaret Pappano. She married the love of her life, Robert O. Feola, on January 14, 1939. Lucille worked for 13 years as an executive secretary at The Hower Company. She was a life-long member of St. Matthew's Parish. Lucille was a member of the Sanctuary Guild and she looked forward to reading the church bulletin each week when she could no longer attend mass.
Lucille had many hobbies. She enjoyed working outdoors and keeping her lawn spotless. She loved to cook and enjoyed making her homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs. Lucille was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and the cut out cookies she would make at Christmas. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and tried to never miss a game. Lucille loved to read and didn't let he macular degeneration keep her from reading the newspaper everyday with her magnifying glass.
Preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Margaret Pappano; her husband, Robert O. Feola; and granddaughter, Emily Ann Vincente. She is survived by her daughter, Philomena Vincente and her son-in-law, Tony Vincente of Massillon. The lights of her life were her grandchildren, Beth Vincente of Canton, Jennifer Garcia of Wadsworth, Kristen (Joshua) Berbari of Canton, and David (Karen) Vincente of Massillon; and great grandchildren, Mya and Philip Garcia, Jacob, Noah, and Zachary Berbari, and Allison and Kaitlyn Vincente.
A special thank you from Lucille's family goes to her neighbor, guardian angel, and beloved fireman, Ed Burns, who checked on her every day, put her trash out every week, and would sit with her and have coffee and donuts. Also thanks to Debbie Pappano who often took her grocery shopping.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kedia, Lucille's primary physician and to Dr. Chandler and the nursing staff on T3 Intensive Care floor and Akron Coty Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Street, Akron, OH 44312 with Father Michael Williamson celebrating. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, OH 44312. The family suggests memorials to St. Matthew Catholic Church or school.
