Louise Bennington

Louise Bennington, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Akron on September 2, 1915 to the late Peter and Sofia Bloniarz. Louise retired from City Bakery (Kaase’s), and was a member of Bakers Local Union 19. She was the sweetest smelling grandma on the block. Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and never missed calling her family on their birthdays and anniversaries. She loved traveling with her husband and was one of the Cleveland Indians biggest fans.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bennington; grandsons, Glen and Steven Sells; son-in-law, Greg Maresh; brothers, Adam and Bernard Bloniarz; and sister, Nellie Waszkiewicz. She is survived by son, Cloyd (Mary) Wiggins; daughters, Joyce Maresh and Sandi (Norman) Probst; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Stanley; and many nieces and nephews. Wherever she went, Louise was loved by everyone she met. A special thank-you to the staff of Emeritus at Stow, the staff of Pebble Creek, and the staff at Summa Akron City Hospital for the care you gave our mother.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. with Father Michael Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, c/o Akron General Foundation, 1 Akron General Ave., Akron, OH 44307-2463.
