L.M. “RED” Hamrick Born on July 24, 1934 in Webster Springs, W. Va. on his mother’s 21st birthday, passed away March 3, 2016, peacefully in his sleep with his family at his bedside, at the age of 81.
Red had a full life of family, fun and of course, a very strong work ethic. The gift he received from God early in his life was the natural ability of electrical, mechanical and structural engineering. He traveled the world working for the George J. Meyer Company in Akron, and as was his nature, stepped out of his comfort zone, and along with his brother Gene in 1975 started “Hamrick Manufacturing and Service Inc.” in Suffield, Ohio which, as of today has grown into one of the largest family owned packaging businesses in the industry. He loved spending his winters in Florida, and when back home, you could always find him at work every day.
Red leaves behind his devoted wife, Marti of 33 years; children, Phil (Sue), Sharon (Bobby), Joyce (Ken) and Janice; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, A.P. and Edith; beloved son, Tom; and daughter, Patty.
Family and friends will be received Monday, March 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary R. Friend officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
