Linda Kay Strittmatter

Linda Kay (Roser) Strittmatter, Capt, USAFR; Lt Col, USAR LAKEMORE -- Linda K. Strittmatter, age 76, passed away January 31, 2018. She was born in Akron, April 12, 1941, and a graduate of Kenmore High School. Linda received her B.S. and M.A. degrees from Akron University, and served a one-year dietetic internship at Cincinnati Medical Center. She worked for Christ Hospital, Cincinnati for two years before entering the USAF (Capt.). She was a Vietnam-era veteran. Linda worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital as staff dietitian for six years. Also, at this time she was Chief, Food Service Officer for the 2291st USAR Hospital achieving the rank of Lt. Col. She was secretary of the Lakemore Zoning and Building Appeals Board for many years. Linda served her community through 23 years membership in Springfield Township Women’s Club. She was a member for over 20 years of the American, Ohio, and Akron Dietetic Associations. She held several offices as an active member of Mended Hearts, Inc., a support group for heart attack survivors. She was also involved in various groups struggling with panic disorder and phobias, especially, agoraphobia. Always willing to help anyone deal with this life-wasting condition. Preceded in death by loving husband, William; parents, Stanley Roser, Sr. and W. June Riley; and brother, Stanley Roser, Jr., she is survived by step-sons, David (Sharon), Bryon (Kim) and Russell (Heather); sisters, Bernice LeMasters of Akron and Nancy (David) Greathouse of South Carolina; and a host of family and friends. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. NO FLOWERS, please. In lieu of flowers make donations to the American Heart Association, or local shelter for battered women.
