Linda Faye Kalgreen (Shaffer)

Linda Kalgreen, age 65, has gone home to be with her Heavenly Father.

She was born February 7, 1949 and passed away December 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Akron, and lived in the Ellet community all her life, where she was a graduate of Ellet High School. Linda worked as the “lunch lady” at Betty Jane Elementary, Hyre Junior High and Ellet High School, retiring with 33 years of service. She was one of the best lunch ladies ever and loved all the children, along with the other lunch ladies she worked with.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jack E. and Mildred H. Shaffer. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 46 years, Ron; daughters, Dawn (Bill Daniels) Kalgreen, and Lisa (Jerry) Wilson; the “light of her life”, grandson, Blake Daniels, who lovingly called her Mee Mee; step grandchildren, April (Mike) Karenke, Jessica and Deanna Wilson; step great granddaughter, Abby Karenke; brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Judy Kalgreen; sister-in-law, Sandy Kalgreen; nieces and nephews, Kayla, Ashley and Jason Kalgreen (Carrie Ellis); great nieces and nephews, David Rice, Ryan Chilson, Lucie Ellis Kalgreen, Ryan Ellis Kalgreen; and very special cousin, Barb Lynn and her family.

She was an amazing woman who touched so many lives; we were so fortunate to call her wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. We, the family, would like to thank all the people who have cared for her during this difficult time, especially the staff at Summa ICU Unit. All of you helped her in so many ways and we will be forever grateful.

The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Mike Giacomoni officiating. In lieu of flowers a Linda Kalgreen Scholarship Fund has been established at Ellet High School. This scholarship honors her for the 33 years of service where she enjoyed feeding the Akron Public School kids.
