SPRINGFIELD TWP. – Lester “Les” Kinsey, age 87, passed away on April 3, 2017 after a long illness.
Born in Akron, he lived in the Springfield Twp. area most of his life. Les served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was the owner of Kinsey Hardware. He also was employed by the Mogadore and Springfield school systems as the Transportation Supervisor. Mr. Kinsey served as a trustee for Springfield Township, and was a member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; and sister, Charlotte Roads, he is survived by his wife, Betty L.; sons, John L. (Lea) of Akron and David (Karen) of Medina; grandchildren, Richelle (Larry) Brown, Nicole (Per) Marvin, John David (Kaitlin) Kinsey, Jaclyn Kinsey, Jenna Kinsey and Jacob (Katherine) Kinsey; great-grandchildren, Zak, Tori, Derek and Bayle Brown and Isla Marvin; sisters, Karen (Ken) Dunbar and Carol (Charles) Cyrus; and brother, Harold (Donna) Kinsey.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Friday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Burkhardt officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 70 West Streetsboro Street, Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236.
