Leroy "Alden" Shanower

Leroy “Alden” Shanower, 74, passed away on March 5, 2012.

Born in Youngstown, Alden grew up in Conneaut, Ohio. He then spent the majority of his adult life in Dayton, Ohio. In the later years of his life, Alden moved with his wife to Uniontown, where they both retired. Alden was a structural steel engineer for all of his working life, and was a member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge No. 22 F&AM.

Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vesta Shanower; and wife, Carol E. Shanower, he is survived by son, Greg (Suzanne) Shanower; daughter, Roberta (Tim) Tresslar; and grandchildren, Benjamin and Marisa Shanower and Hayden Tresslar.

Memorial service will take place on Sunday, 2 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 and Cleveland Ave.), with Rev. James P. Nolte officiating. The family suggests memorials to the National Kidney Foundation, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., Columbus, OH 43231.
