Leroy Norman Hubele, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Leroy was born to Norman and Esther Hubele in Carmi, Illinois on October 2, 1923.
Leroy enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the 106th Division (Golden Lions). He fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, European Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal among others.
After his military service he moved to Akron and found work at Quaker Oats. He then worked at Alside Aluminum until retirement.
Dad was always a music lover, his favorite style was bluegrass. He never met a stranger and he loved being with his family more than anything. Dad, you were our hero and I always enjoyed spending time with you.
Leroy was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty; his brothers, Robert and Kenneth; and sisters, Joyce Mellentin and Helen Rasure. He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Susan) Hubele and Donald (Donna) Hubele; grandchildren, Amy (Bob) Smith, Christine (Tim) Scheid, Stephanie (Andrew) Yoder, Nathan and Matthew Hubele; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kelsie Smith, Wyatt Scheid, Natalie and Levi Yoder; brothers, Vernon (Eleanor) Hubele and Richard Hubele; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be Monday, 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Pastor Bob Stephens officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park where Mogadore VFW Post 8487 will provide military honors. Friends and family will be received prior to the service on Monday, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
