Leonard Young

Leonard Young, 94, passed away February 21, 2015 and is now with his Lord.

Born February 7, 1921 in Finger, Tennessee to William and Martha (Walker) Young, he moved to the Akron area in 1946. Leonard served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber in 1980 after nearly 35 years of service.

He was a longtime, dedicated member of The Chapel. Leonard was a skilled woodworker, making beautiful houses for his feathered friends and enjoyed gardening, always sharing his harvest with family, neighbors and friends. He was a kind, soft-spoken role model to all of the young men that he enjoyed taking fishing and working alongside him in his yard, garden and garage. He will be deeply missed.

Leonard is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Johnnie (Browder); daughter, Regina Young; and other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312. Private burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. (\\
