Leonard H. Swartz

Leonard H. Swartz, age 86, passed away June 16, 2014 after a long illness.

Born in Mogadore, he resided there for 50 years prior to moving to Tallmadge for the past 11 years. Leonard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed as supervisor/foreman of Maintenance at the Mogadore Plant of General Tire, and was a member of Mogadore United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Marguerite Swartz, Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine; sons, Kevin (Sharon) of Mansfield, Texas and Keith (Tammy) of Reno, Nev.; grandson, Justin Leonard; brothers, Gordon (Virginia) of Phoenix, Ariz., Curtis of Punta Gorda, Fla., Gary of Indio, Calif.; and sister, Emily Wright of Suffield.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), MOGADORE, Ohio 44260, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where Mogadore VFW Post 8487 will conduct military rites. The family suggests memorials to Mogadore United Methodist Church, 3828 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, OH 44260.
