Lee M. Wieland, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2019 after a brief illness.
He was born in Akron and was a lifetime area resident. Lee was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and worked for many years as a Tool and Dye Maker at Cornwell Tool. He loved playing his Bass Guitar in two different bands, The Country Buckeyes and The Country Wheels. Lee also enjoyed deer hunting in Pennsylvania.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie; and all of his siblings, Lee is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary; daughter, Karen (Paul) Liska; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Falcone and Rose (Terry) Wright; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Military honors, conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487, and funeral service will begin Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Dwayne Ray will officiate. Private burial will be held at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Lakeview Lighthouse Church, 1065 Kubler Trail, Akron, Ohio 44312.
