August 28, 1947 — August 30, 2015

Emblem
Lee S. Salzwimmer, 68, passed away unexpectedly August 30, 2015.

Born August 28, 1947 in Harrisville, West Virginia, he lived most of his life in the Akron and Tallmadge areas, and graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1966. Lee entered the US Army and served for three years as a diesel / hydraulic mechanic in Germany. After the Army, he graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College (Lincoln College of Technology) and worked as a diesel mechanic for International Harvester before going to Consolidated Freightways, where he retired after 25 years of service. He served as Union Steward for the Teamsters for several years. An avid clock and car connoisseur, he was devoted to his family to the end. He enjoyed going to his children’s sporting events, spending time in West Virginia, family vacations at Disney World, and going to the ocean.

Preceded in death by father, Daniel Salzwimmer; mother, Helen Mason; and stepfathers, Bob Knepper and Bob Mason. He is survived by Michele Salzwimmer; son, Charles (Jennifer) Salzwimmer; daughters, Suzanne Salzwimmer, Lisa (Keith) Burwell and Amy (Pete) Goranitis; grandchildren, Samuel, Olivia, Gabrielle and Nico; brother, Jim (Loretta) Salzwimmer; nephew, Chad (Amanda) Salzwimmer; niece, Kim (Tim) Coleman, Gavin, Wade, and Raven; father-in-law, Charles Mayreis; Godparents, Jay and Elvira Carney; and special nieces and nephews.

The following words embody Lee’s feelings entirely - "No time to cry, don’t shed a tear, I am with God, in spirit I am here. I kept the faith, my spirit is light, I am at peace now, I fought the good fight." Special thanks to the Harrisville and Parkersburg communities, volunteer firefighters, and state troopers that searched tirelessly for Lee. Your compassion and effort is sincerely appreciated.
