Larry E. Weppler, age 69, died unexpectedly at home on May 13, 2015.
Larry was born in Marietta, Ohio on May 20, 1945. He lived in the Akron area most of his life and graduated from Ellet High School in 1963. Larry served in the U.S. Army Reserves, attended Millheim Baptist Church and was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #7. He started with the Akron Police Department on December 31, 1971 and worked his way to detective on the vice squad, where he served an unprecedented 18 years, retiring in April 1994. Larry was an avid NASCAR and motor sport fan, and loved his 1953 Chevy business coupe.
Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edith; he is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cindy; many cousins, stepchildren, and a host of wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor K.W. Lawrence officiating. Private interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Road, Akron, OH 44312.
