Kathryn Lenore (Lewis) Walker
February 9, 1921 — December 16, 2015
Kathryn Lenore (Lewis) Walker went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2015, in Tucson, Arizona, following a brief illness.
She was a resident of Akron, Ohio and moved to the Southwest in 2014, to be with several of her children. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Byrd and Lenore (Schwecheimer) Lewis. She graduated from Glenville High School in Cleveland, where she was part of the Major Work Class. She was a graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and obtained her master's degree in education from Kent State University. She taught elementary and middle schools for most of the 1950s through the 1980s.
Kathryn was a Godly woman who, as a United Methodist pastor’s wife for 60 years, was very active in the church. The Methodist Churches that they served were all in Northeastern Ohio and included: Vickery/Sand Hill; Peninsula/Boston; Grace, Uhrichsville; Kenmore, Akron; Epworth, Youngstown; First Church, Girard; First Church, Bucyrus; and Lakemore, Ohio.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Lloyd H. Walker. She is survived by her children: Carolyn Walker (David) Patek, Robert (Sherri) Walker, Ruth Kay Walker (late Joseph) Castaldo, Janet Walker, Kirk (Wendy) Walker, and 6 grandchildren: Nathaniel (Talonna) Walker, Robert Walker II, Kirk Michael (Jill) Walker, Susan Walker, Caroline Walker (Joshua) Ashcroft, and Reid Walker. She is also survived by her sister Janet Lewis (John) Woods and sister-in-law, Bobbi Jo Reed (late Donald) Walker.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, December 28 at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Reverend Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Solon, Ohio. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until service time.
