Kathryn L. "Kathy" Evans

Kathryn L. “Kathy” Evans, age 67, passed away March 13, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Born in Akron, she was an area resident most of her life. Kathy had been a travel agent for more than 20 years. She retired in June of 2013 from The Merriman, where she had worked in the Human Resources Department. Kathy was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially Indians baseball, and enjoyed trips to the casino and cooking delicious meals for her family. Most of all, she was a loving wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Preceded in death by her parents, George and Irma Sykes; and brother, Ron, she is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard; sons, Scott and Tom (Delite); grandson, Christopher; sisters, Nancy DeCoursey, Sandy (Dave) Adams, and Brenda Willis; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where memorial service will follow at 7 p.m., with Father Donald Petkash officiating.
