Karen R. Opperman

Karen R. (Swindell) (Bosecker) Opperman was carried home by her Lord and joined her heavenly family on February 7, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was born to William and Elizabeth Swindell on February 23, 1961, in Akron, Ohio and lived in the area all of her life.

Karen leaves behind husband of 15 years, Mark Opperman, her beloved sister, Cathy (Todd) Franklin, brother William (Trena) Swindell, Son and Daughter-in-law, Paul (Randy) and Sally Bosecker, Daughter and Son-in-Law Jessica and Anthony Papale, Step-sons Jason (Carmen) Opperman, Daniel Opperman, Step-daughter Rachel (Christopher) Vomero, Granddaughters Hayley, Selina (Shawn), Dawn, Shelby, Samantha, Emily and Lily, Grandsons Jacob, Steven, Maxx, Dash, and James, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Karen graduated from Stow High School in 1978 and worked as a waitress, office person and also a private investigator. Karen enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, boating, and hiking. She also enjoyed working in the yard and making up flower beds. One of her favorite things was doing family genealogy, learning how family members connected and where they were from. She spent her adult life learning all that she could.

Karen’s biggest joy and most loved passion of all was her family! Spending as much time as she could with her husband, kids, grandkids and extended family was her world. She loved the big holiday dinners, cookouts, crafting and camping trips.

In lieu of flowers, Karen requests donations be made to Cornerstone Church at 2445 S Arlington Road in Akron, Ohio 44319 or Summa Care Jean & Milton Cooper Pavilion at 161 North Forge Street, Akron, Ohio 44304.

Family and friends will be received Monday, February 17th from 3 to 5 pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 5 pm.
